Emmanuel Schnell was born on 11 May 1912 in Stony Plain, Alberta,
Canada to John Schnell and Amelia Stertz.
On 24 Dec 1933 he married Katherine Helzer in Calgary, Alberta.
They had 3 sons and 3 daughters.
He farmed for many years in rural Ponoka until a heart attack in 1972
forced him to "retire". After that time he filled his days with building
and repairing buggies, sleighs, and wagons. He made wooden
wheels and his skills were in high demand before the Ponoka
stampede fixing chuckwagon wheels. He loved horses and always
had several. He usually had at least one team for pulling his
buggies. He enjoyed driving them in parades with his friend and
neighbor Archie Taggert. He also enjoyed working with leather and
kept alive the old trade of blacksmithing, which he learned from his
father.
Emmanuel died 22 Oct 1994 at his home in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada.
