John Mannfolk Williams
John (Johan Mannfolk) Williams was born on 30 April 1874 near
Kristinestad, Finland, possibly in the parish of Närpiö as there is a
farm with the name of "Mannfolk" there in the village of Gottböle.
He and his family spoke Swedish.  He immigrated to the U.S. in 1895
aboard the S.S. Scythia.  

John married
Anna Margreta Person on 19 March 1904 in Hibbing, St
Louis Co, Minnesota.
They had 8 children:

  Walter Wilhelm, born 12 Jan 1907        
  Edith Margaret, born 22 May 1908
  Albert, born 19 Jan 1911
  Violet Marie, born 7 Jan 1913
  Edna Evelyn, born 30 Mar 1915
  Verna Eleanor, born 23 Dec 1916


John ran a saloon in Hibbing and later was a janitor at the Hibbing
High School.  

J
ohn and Anna lived in Hibbing for the remainder of their lives.  They
died within a month of each other.  John died on March 14, 1953 and
Anna died on April 20, 1953.  They are buried in the Hibbing
cemetery.  

John had 3 sisters that stayed in Finland.  Their names were Ida
Mannfolk
, Emma (Mannfolk) Salminen, and Tyra Mannfolk.  Emma had
2 children who immigrated to Minnesota
, and their passage was paid
by their Uncle John Williams
.  Their names were Alice (Salminen)
Anderson and Karl Johan Salminen.   Emma died in 1908 of
pneumonia.
The Hibbing High School were John Williams worked.
