Per Johan Walfrid Harlin was born 30 Jul 1894 in Överbodvill, Resele,
Västernorrland, Sweden to Per Valentin Harlin and Märta Johanna
Hansdotter.
Johan Walfrid emigrated from Gudmundrå on 14 Apr 1914 to join his
uncle Albin Hallin in Minnesota. He arrived in Quebec, Canada on 18
May 1914. He lived in Deer River, Itasca county, MInnesota and
became a citizen. He fought in WWI and was stationed in France,
serving with distinction.
About 1921 he married Esther Elizabeth Grier. They had a son:
Oliver Walfred Hallin, b. 1923 in Itasca county, MN
On 11 Jun 1924 John Walfred was killed in an accident while cutting
wood on his property. He is buried north of Deer River, Minnesota.
