Selma Matilda Backstrom was born in Feb 1882 in Marshall Co,
Kansas to Anders Bäckström and Anna Brita Pehrsdotter. Her
parents were immigrants from Sweden, arriving in Kansas just 6
months before she was born.
Selma married John Magnus Anderson (b. 28 Apr 1873) about 1905 in
Marshall Co, KS. John was born in the parish of Ed, Västernorrland,
Sweden and immigrated in 1884 when he was 11 years old. Selma
and John moved to Ogallah, Trego Co, KS a short time after marrying.
They were living there in the 1910 and 1920 census, but by 1930 had
moved to Delena twp, Columbia county, Oregon, where Selma's
brother Olof August Backstrom was living.
They had 4 children:
Wallace A Anderson, b. 1 Aug 1906-19 Apr 1997
George Edward Anderson, b. 22 Feb 1909- 10 Apr 1983
Mildred D Anderson, b. abt. 1917
Helen L Anderson, b. abt 1923 (in Oregon)
Selma died on 28 Apr 1966 in Columbia couny, Oregon. John died on
31 Dec 1964 in Columbia county, Oregon.
