Bernard Eugene Hallin was born on November 5, 1910 in rural Ogilvie, Kanabec Co, MN to Olof
Johan (Ole) Hallin and Sigrid Kristina Jonasdotter. Bernard is the youngest of 10 children. His
parents and his six oldest brothers and sisters were born in Sweden.
Bernard spent several years logging in the Pine River, MN area when he was a bachelor.
He married Irene Sarah Dixon on June 14, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN.
They have 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bernard served his country in the Philipines during World War II. He had a pet monkey while he
was there to keep him company.
After returning from the war, Bernard drove truck for a plumbing & heating company. He and Irene
also bought the "Tidy Tub" Laundromat in Minneapolis. They retired in 1977 and built a home on
Skogman Lake in Cambridge, MN.
Ice fishing was a favorite past time of Bernard while living there, and they also kept a large garden.
After Irene died in 1994, Bernard moved to a townhome in Cambridge.
