Olof Johan Harlin
Olof Johan Harlin was born January 11, 1863 in Ållsjön, Ed, Västernorrland, Sweden to
Johan Olsson Harlin and Anna Brita Olsdotter.  
He married Sigrid Christina Jonasdotter on December 11, 1887 in Jussjö, Skorped,
Västernorrland, Sweden.  They continued to live next to her parents until they
immigrated to the United States.  Olof arrived in May 1900 with his younger brother
Karl Oskar on the
S.S. City of Rome.  He changed his name from Harlin to "Hallin"
after arriving in the U.S.  Kristina came in 1902 with the children on the
S.S.
Germanic.  Their son Karl remained in Sweden with Ole's mother Anna Brita
Olsdotter and her 2nd husband since there wasn't enough money for all of the
children to come.  Ole and Kristina planned to have Karl come to the U.S. after they
saved up more money, but he decided to stay in Sweden.

Olof and Kristina had 10 children:

Ole settled in Ann Lake township in Kanabec county, Minnesota with his brother
Oskar.  He built a sawmill that was very successful.  He had several men working
for him and was a prominent settler in the community.  

In 1910 Ole was in an accident when some horses that Kristina was driving got
away from her
and he fell off of the wagon.  He suffered serious head injuries and
as a result spent time at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls, MN.   After he returned
home, the doctors insisted that he lived separate from the family.  He spent his
final years living in a small cabin near the house where his family lived.

He died 19 Nov 1916 of stomach cancer.  His daughter Gertrude died on the day of
his burial of a fatal epileptic seizure, probably caused from the stress of his death.
